Simple Pursuit

Simple Pursuit.

“Salvation’s Tide” – Passion
Seriously just pray over these lyrics right now, wherever you are. It’s currently 2:03 am and I came across this song and it was exactly what I needed.

God take us back, the place we began
The simple pursuit of nothing but You
The innocence of a heart in Your hands
God take us back, oh God, take us back

To an unswerving faith in the power of Your name
A heart beating for Your kingdom to reign
A church that is known for Your presence again
God take us back

Nothing and no one comes close to You
Nothing could ever come close
Nothing and no one; it’s You, and You only live
Nothing could ever come close

Keep our hearts real, keep Your grace close
You’re bringing us back
You’re bringing us home

To an unswerving faith in the power of Your name
A heart beating for Your kingdom to reign
A church that is known for Your presence again
God take us back

Nothing and no one comes close to You
Nothing could ever come close
Nothing and no one; it’s You, and You only live
Nothing could ever come close

To an unswerving faith in the power of Your name
A heart beating for Your kingdom to reign
A church that is known for Your presence again
God take us back

Nothing and no one comes close to You
Nothing could ever come close
Nothing and no one; it’s You, and You only live
Nothing could ever come close

Now if that stirred something in you, keep reading this. Let’s dig into this song.

This is not my best written word, probably because it’s 2 am and I’m just gonna be real with y’all. I’m a mess, but I know God is doing something here.

God take us back, the place we began.

When I was little I used to wonder. I know we all did, but I really wondered. I wondered about when God made me. When i began. When he mended my heart, and made my eyes the color of Ireland. When I think about that now, I feel so loved and so beautiful. That’s how we should always feel. When life kicks in and we feel ourselves compare our bodies, our hair, our noses, our eyes to everyone else. That’s when we need to wonder, why did we begin?

Take us back to the simple pursuit of nothing but You
The innocence of a heart in Your hands

When we got saved. When everything changed. When the weight was lifted and the chains were broken. When all we needed was Jesus. We had more than everything we could have ever needed in Jesus. Our hearts were in His hands.

We drift. A lot. We drift into today’s world and forget these moments. Which is why I am so deeply in love with his song because it reminds me to just pause and go back to Jesus,

To an unswerving faith in the power of Your name
A heart beating for Your kingdom to reign
A church that is known for Your presence again
God take us back

It’s human to have an unsteady faith. I cry a lot and I worry about everything. But I want to go back to having a strong unshakable faith In Jesus Christ. I want my heart to beat to the sound of his name. And if you want that too, say it aloud. I promise, God has great plans for you.

Okay praise break — I literally just started crying tears of joy because I’m so happy. No reason really, but I just got an overwhelming feeling of His presence and I am filled with so much right now. Just because I decided to stay up watching One Tree Hill and turn on Spotify afterwards and Simple Pursuit came on.Anyways

Anyways, I hope those plans include your heart beating for His kingdom to reign and a church known for HIs presence. You’re going to do great things for His kingdom. You’re going to be a vessel for others. You’re gonna have those moments of God’s overwhelming presence and peace. Those moments are worth living for. Those moments are what Jesus died for.

Nothing and no one comes close to You
Nothing could ever come close
Nothing and no one; it’s You, and You only live
Nothing could ever come close

There is nothing more. Nothing more than Jesus. No one can compare to our God. There’s nothing like the love of Christ. Nothing like the peace he brings or the grace he gives. We don’t deserve it. But it’s only Him that gives us that undeserved, unfailing love.

Keep our hearts real, keep Your grace close

Help us have a real, genuine, transparent heart for You and for everyone else. Intertwined to Your heart, Jesus. I never want to live a day without your grace.

You’re bringing us back
You’re bringing us home

Where we belong. This is not our home, heaven is. That is our final destination. He didn’t want heaven without us, so he brought heaven down. While we are here, we have to fearlessly chase after Jesus. While we are here, when we so badly want to go back, we have to call upon his name. In this mess of a life, we have to pause, breath, and go back. To when we simply pursue God and He simply, yet so powerfully, pursues us.
