The biggest challenge as Christians is dealing with the warfare of your heart. We are told to be joyful, happy, peaceful. But it’s not that easy is it? You can’t always control the depression, the heartbreak, the fear, or the emptiness of the heart. We long for a happy heart, but we are designed to be hurt. So how do we cope? How do we handle the warfare? Let Jesus have your heart. Ask him to give you peace, to show you His ways, His joy. Choosing joy may not away be easy, so choose Him. Choose to surrender your pain, your hurt, and your heart to the God who can conquer it all. Cast all your cares unto Him.
Here’s a prayer for you:
Take this heart
Show it how to beat
All you are is who I want to be
(Glory & Wonder, Mosaic MCS) Jesus you calmed the storm and settled the sea, please calm the storm in my heart. Show my heart how to beat. Let my heart beat in time with Yours. Help me to be more like You, fix my eyes upon You and Your way. Let me face every situation, every relationship, every trial, with Your Holy Spirit in my heart. Jesus I need Your love, I long for it. Thank you for loving me so vastly, so eternally, and so beautifully. Settle this fear, this sadness, this hopelessness within me so that I can accomplish Your will for my life, so that I can tell others of your love and light. Help me get past this storm so I can tell of your wondrous works. My heart may be vacant, but I need your grace to pull me closer.
Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
Sometimes we may feel as though Jesus is sleeping up there in Heaven, havin’ a good ‘ole nap, leaving it up to us to deal with our troubled hearts. After all, we are Christians. Aren’t we supposed to be happy and peaceful all the time? Ha. No. It’s not like that. We need Him to calm the storms, to seize the warfare of our hearts, to heal our depression, to bless our thoughts. He will guide us. He will clear the skies. We just have to give Him our heart, our time, our prayer, and our love.
The same God who calms the sea can and will calm your troubles heart.
